PHILO DIBBLE INSCRIPTION

In 1857 Lot Smith and a group of Mormon Raiders captured and burned 75 government wagons. On their return to salt lake they traveled the back trails to avoid the U.S. troops. Here where the vangaurd company had crossed over the cliff, Philo Dibble, a member of Lot Smith's company, carved his name. This inscription was rediscovered by LaMar Barrett during his study of the Mormon Trail.
